Sit up straight, it will give you a positive attitude. Smile.

S.T.A.M.P. is a Behavioral Science acronym for predicting potential violent episodes. Typical risk factors in someone who may become violent include Staring; Tone (raised or tense voice); Anxiety (tapping feet or clenching fists); Mumbling; Pacing the floor.

You have got to be kidding, right? Staring aimlessly out a window, sarcastic voice, tapping feet, pen, drumming fingers, talking to one self and pacing …..that’s like a description of my whole fucking day here. What are you trying to say, that I am a potentially violent individual? I don’t think so.

We feel that the STAMP system provides an easy to remember checklist that can be used in a wide range of potentially stressful situations to provide an initial indication of possible violence. Recognizing the early signs that can lead to a violent episode can give staff the time they need to defuse the situation before it escalates.

You people are serious. How can you suggest that I am a violent individual? I have no history of violence, have been in very few altercations throughout my life, don’t exhibit any sort of sociopathic tendencies. Yet you are saying that this STAMP predicts that I may become violent at any point?

Staring was an important early indicator of potential violence. It was frequently noted in observational data and featured in nine of the 16 observed violent episodes. Tone and volume of voice was associated with 13 of the 16 violent episodes. Most of the cases involved raised voices and yelling but two involved sarcastic and caustic replies.

REALLY? And all indication show that MARS as the red planed and named after the God of War provokes VIOLENCE, and women are from Venus. WHAT sort of ISOLATED ACADEMIC THEOLOGIAN would subscribe to such a litmus test mentality? I think you have you head up your journals.

Mumbling or speaking to oneself, is perceived to be a sign of mounting frustration and a cue for violence. Pacing was seen as an indication of mounting agitation, a que for impending violence.

I can’t believe that I have to sit through this crap. And you, and your shoes. Your wearing a black suit with brown penny loafers. Penny loafers, who the hell wears penny loafer anymore? Especially the ones with the little tassels. Has anyone ever mentioned that warm tone brown shoes do not go with a black suit. If you are going to present such shit, at least be presentable yourself. The things you see when you don’t have a gun.

If I were the man I was five years ago, I'd take a FLAMETHROWER to this place!

Inspiration

If you are lucky, sometimes it comes to you. Maybe that’s not the way I should start this.

Ok…

If I am lucky, occasionally it comes to me.

Sometimes out of nowhere. From ethereal clouds floating thru consciousness. Sometimes from a voice, blowing on the breeze, or written on the inside back of my eyelids like white fonts in a blogoshere. Or there, it might have come from there, a smiling face of a strangers walking on the street. Or from another’s pain so deep that it has reaches out and tears you, like panther’s claws. Yet leaves a teardrop of glimmering hope with it’s glistening trail running down your cheek. Then again, sometimes it’s from the processed frozen dinner packaging left in the breakroom’s trash container.

A L I E N S

Just returning back to this planet. Breathing the atmosphere, feeling whole.

Saturday, I was abducted by Aliens.

No, no anal probing. They gave me small glasses of a dark potent liquid that rearranged my brain molecules in some way. It really did a job on the time space continuium. One of them offered to be assigned to me. She had short pink hair and strange marking on her skin.  Something to do with her alien language. Then I landed up with a band around my wrist and they exposed me to some of their native folk dancing.  Strange, very strange.

I invited them back next weekend.

scars

It was indelible etched in her consciousness. She could remember it like it was yesterday, and in someway, it defined her as to who she was. She would only talk about it in a low hushed voice, and never very often. It was Christmas and she was 4 years old. They were returning from her grandmother’s house. Presents were open, food was abundant, good time were had by all. And everything was packed away in the station wagon. Her Mom and Dad in the front seat, merrily and animatedly talking about the Christmas Eve party. The cousins and how big they had gotten, the presentation of the food and all those yummy deserts, how Uncle Monroe once again had a little too much wine. Dad had just rolled the driver’s window down alittle to throw his cigarette butt out while they waited at the stop light. In those days everybody smoked and seatbelts were optional. There was no government studies, no laws, no click it or ticket campaigns, and child seats were almost un-heard of. She was sitting in the back seat of the car playing with one of the new dolls she received, with her two older brothers in the way back. Bundled up like Eskimos, they anxiously looked over the numerous paper grocery bags of presents. While the smell of baked ham, sugar cookies, and green bean casserole wharfed up from the foil wrapped plates in the bag on the back seat next to her. Her mother, with her MarloThomas hairdo, wearing a bright flowered dress under her navy blue Pcoat, turned in the front seat to look back at them. “Now don’t you kids dig into those bags, you can play with your toys after we get home”, she stated merrily. “Maaa” came the synchronize reply from her two brothers. Then came the crash, as the car was violently hit from behind. It would later turn out that the driver of the other car was drunk and reached down toward the gas pedal to pick up the cigarette he dropped. Stating that he never even saw their car stopped at the light. But in the long run that really didn’t matter. She remembered the front bench seat of their car tearing forward before her and seeing her parents ejected out the doors as the car spun wildly out of control. But what she remembered most, what scared her to death and was the center of years of nightmares was the sound. As the car was joited forward, there was a great air sucking sound that was followed by a base reverb boom as the gas tank of the Rambler Stationwagon exploded. She was thrown forward and down onto the rails that the front bench seat was mounted on, cutting and gashing up her legs. She became wedged between the upturned seat and the floor. She remembered the dizzy spinning, flashing orange and the sudden hard stop as the car careened into a telephone pole, crushing in it’s side. For a while it all seemed to go in slow motion. Orange and yellow cellophane tongs licking up from behind the back seat between her and her brothers. The sensation of heat and smell of gas. The way her middle brother, who was closes to the back of the back seat, wavered and reached his hand toward the side window as if seen through an orange red mirage. Sudden the door flew open and hands reached in and grabbed her. Yanking and pulling her out, she yelped as the top of her head was ripped by one of the seat springs. She was shoved into someone’s arms as everything sped up into a chaos pace. There were people running and yelling everywhere. Their car had hit a pole right infront of a fire house. Held tight and hugged, the unknown person just keep repeating over and over, “you are going to be alright honey, you are going to be alright”. She could see her mom on the ground by the curb, bleeding from her head and being helped by a stranger in a long coat and hat. She saw her oldest brother stating to climb out of the broken back stationwagon window as the flames ran up his brown hooded coat and her dad reaching into the flames to grab him. The car was quickly starting to be engulfed by fire. There were firemen running out of the firehouse caring hoses and one blonde haired one, with big boots and wearing white underpants, an open fire jacket and gloves swinging an ax toward the side window of the car. As the window shattered the flames came leaping out ferociously. Reaching in, the fireman pulled out a burning bundle and started quickly tearing at the brown flaming wrapper. Ashamedly she would admit that she didn’t realize that the bundle was her other brother. It just didn’t look like him, burned face and hands charged black cracked and bleeding. She thought it was a doll. Then there were lights and ambulance and police. People wrapping bandages around her legs and placing her into her mother’s arms, as they loaded them into an ambulance. The last thing she could remember seeing before they closed the ambulance door was police holding and dragging her screaming father back away from another ambulance and the way the water sprayed out like a sprinkler from the fire hoses. It would be a month before she saw her oldest brother again. His hands and face still wrapped in gauze. And no one ever again spoke about her other brother and why he never came home.
It was an indelible past etched in her consciousness. It was what made her who she was. There was a certain indefinable wholeness, a far away look in her eyes that said, I have seen and I have survived. It is what made her strong, made her motivated and forced her life. As if being so close to death for that fleeting moment gave her power. And though she kept it hidden, like the scars under her pant’s legs, she worn its influence everywhere she went.

4 july

I started thinking that the fourth of July, as holidays go, was no longer such a big deal. It didn't seem that there were that many people even having picnics anymore. Then I realized, it's just that I wasn't invited to any picnics....Damn! I got to get a life, or at least some new friends. Damn!

PRAY

I’m not a religious person, but now don’t get me wrong, I’m not anti-religious either. Whatever floats your boat, as long as you don’t try to impose it on me or start some Jihad. Spiritual I guess I believe in…something. I mean, trying to be a good Human Being and all this shit that I put up with should get me somewhere better off in the (?) after life. Maybe Target instead of Walmart? As for Eastern religion, knowing a couple of mantras, enjoying the concept of karma, liking the looks and idea of Prayer flags and of course the Kama Sutra, is about as far as I get. And as for the “traditional” Anglo Saxon European Christian religion, though I don’t practice, I was raised the “Roman Catholic Way”. I know all too well how I’m not worthy. So needless to say, I’m not on the fast track towards Heaven. But sometimes I wonder why not. After all, one of my favorite foods is cheese. And as everyone knows, Cheese is next to GOD. You have all heard that old exclamation…......”Chjez-is Christ!”
No wonder I’m sentenced to Hell. Lord have mercy!

The room was totally vacant, only the blue glow on the screened wall slightly pulsing. Silently the Priestess walked in and took her place at the Altar. The Mass began. Quietly came her slaves caring the sacrifices. Bowls of brains and organs, trays covered with body parts. No sooner had they placed them on the table then in came the zombies. Out of hallway crevasses, boxes, and from under floors, they seemed to appear out of nowhere. Attacking the sacrifices in an orgy of blood, gorging themselves in a frenzy of tearing flesh and gnarling on bones. Then the Priestess started her chant with a pounding beat. Screaming her epithets to the flashing blue wall. Reciting pray after pray she ceremonially danced around the room. The zombies, half watching, ate heavier in rhythmatic syncopation to her religious vehemence. Yelling to the wall, praying to the sky and building in an ear-piercing pitch, the Priestess called to her God. Begging to enlighten them all and to bless their pitiless beings. Then, for what seemed like hours of praying and feasting, quickly ended. With the zombies disappearing into the blackness, crawling away. Some still chewing on brains and caring pieces of arms and hands back with them to their hiding places and rotting festering holes.

“Thank you for your help today”, said Mother. That was easy Tech, responded I, blue walls are a dime a dozen these days. ”I think the training went well, and the facilitator really explained the Balanced Score Card in conjunction with the Corporate Wide Message. Her presentation was wonderful, and we also had a good turn out”, analyzed Mother. If you feed them, they will come, said I.

Summertime

I have been pondering about the future. Can I actually say “pondering” and still sound authentic? Anyway, I digress, which seems to be a large problem of mine, I mean digressing. Why is it so easy to obsess about the past? The known aspect coupled with that hindsight thing makes it simple to re-live, alter, view in microscopic intensity and rely on the past. But should it be such an obsession? I’ve tried to learn from my past lives, gain insight and become a better Human Being and try to move forward. Letting it go and moving on. Yet still the past is what I reflex upon, the touch stone of today’s questions. Looking backwards becomes the safe and easy way to judge the future and projecting the past onto the fog of the unknown tomorrows create a path of least resistance.

Summertime
And the livin' is easy,
Fish are jumpin'
And the cotton is high.
Oh yo' daddy's rich
An' yo' ma is good lookin'
So hush, little baby,
Don't you cry

I’ve been pondering about the future, all embodied in the word summertime. Hoping that something would carry me away and get me living. Easy living, idyllic Maxfield Parish images with resounding glossy sparkling light lazily dappling thru leaves. Where life is slower, sweeter, uncomplicated. Quantum tranquility and seas adrift with laidback smiles. The music floats through the air past clean white linens soaking up the sun on backyard clothesline and the interconnectivity electrifies and glows in crimson sunsets.

Summertime
And the livin' is easy,
Fish are jumpin'
And the cotton is high.
Oh yo' daddy's rich
An' yo' ma is good lookin'
So hush, little baby,
Don't you cry

Ice tea and lemon aid, warm breezes bustling chimes. No need to busy oneself. The future rolls in, a hot breath on one’s neck and limbs sweating as the dance plays. The night, naked and willing, lying on grassy fields waiting for the frolicking stars to awaken. And picnics and beaches with sand in your shorts and the back seat of cars are the adolescent dreams that form our days from the fragmented chances that skip in front of our eyes. Bath water warm ponds of infinite blues create mirages in the fabric of time. And the melodies of the birds make all soar with thrill and anticipation, like a chemise slowly being removed only to be tossed into the sky.

Summertime
And the livin' is easy,
Fish are jumpin'
And the cotton is high.
Oh yo' daddy's rich
An' yo' ma is good lookin'
So hush, little baby,
Don't you cry
.

No demands, no worries, no problm mon. All is right and available. Vacations are endless and mountains of time free the soul to fly to the moon and return. None for the want and every moment is a day in paradise. Drudgery is transplanted with euphoria. And life is like a ripe and juicy peach hanging from the tree desiring to be picked.

Summertime
And the livin' is easy,
Fish are jumpin'
And the cotton is high.
Oh yo' daddy's rich
An' yo' ma is good lookin'
So hush, little baby,
Don't you cry

Lullabies, whisking one away into dream worlds where all is beauty. Promising futures shine as brightly as streetlights against the backdrop of country roads. All is happiness in the quite embrace of a lover’s arms and the still rustling of the warm breeze through the trees. Summer come and find me now. Then suddenly the clouds past infront of the glaring sun and in the shadow light of the day one sees with perfect recognition the dingy film of reality. The future becomes unidentifiable and mysterious. Yet thru the misgivings a voice sings out and reminds you of what use to be and gives you hope of things to come. The past arrives again.

TRIPE IN TOMATO SAUCE

Part 1

• l clove garlic chopped

• l can tomato paste

• 3 cans of water (use tomato paste can)

• salt, pepper to taste

• grated Lucatela or Romano cheese.

Place tripe from part 1 and all the ingredients into a pot and cook very slowly until the tripe is tender. Season individual portions to taste with salt, pepper and as much grated cheese as desired.

Prelude

Raining for two days, scrubbing the dirt away from the air. Fresh breaths of liquid resolve. Smudging the images thru my windshield and all flows towards the sea. Watersign how do you fair, on cold damp summer days, when the leaves drip nectar from the sky? Your hair sticks to your face as a drop creases you check. Gravity is the draw, for weeping paths run. All lead to rivers and streams who flow thru your consciousness. Tear drops from clouded skies, swelling the ponds to overflow their banks, beckon to me. Only to start the cycle again. Lady of the lake, what secrets do you hold in that mermaid evil embrace. Calling to me, to enter. And to "drown in cold water".

monolog

Yesterday I was cast as a villian. Sometimes that just happens, yet I try to avoid it as much as I can. It's truely not a part that I like to play. But remember, I'm a whore, and role play is just a part of the occupation.

You ever notice that the villian alway seems to monolog their intentions and evil plans?

So villian I play. Here We Go........

The two of them had been drinking pretty heavily. They were cheap American beers and tequila shots zombies.“Dude, get me a beer, and make sure it’s cold, check the label, it turns blue, man”, said zombie one.  Where straight Black Rum is my particular poison. Slowly sipped it really gives me the edge, you can almost taste it’s involvement in the slave triangle.  This was going to be too easy, I thought as we meandered thru the wooded lot, ax at my side. “Ax for the monsters, that’s just too funny dude!” spouted zombie 2.  “But I know what you are saying “, retorted zombie one. “My position is full of monsters and that Mother Fucking Bitch is the worst one I ain’t  her freeekn lapdog where does she get off making demands on me like that”, he slur. We stopped at the first clearing . The two of them wavering a little in the drunken stupor of self-confidence. The moon was just about full, largely glowing in the eastern sky. What a barren mistress I though, but it is good to have her company and always a slight exhibitionist thrill to have her watch. The two of them were having some inane conversation, laboring under some false pretense. My attention coming back into their conversation  “that funcn idot managgerier, ain’t it righ dud?” He didn’t even realize the swing, a single hand round house from my side. Until the ax’s hickory handle, just below the head, caught him on the ankle, shattering it. Taking a step back, I pulled the ax toward me. The ax’s head grabbing his Achilles tendon, tearing it and ripping off his heal as his foot was pulled out from beneath him. He went down hard onto his back with a loud thud that even the moon heard. But before he could react or even voice the pain, a right handed over head swing brought the ax bit across his throat, slicing it right down to the backbone. The blood gushing out in a river amongst the clearing as his body shook in the grip of death.  Swing around to the right the ax caught the second one across his stomach. Slicing open his guts and spilling his bowels on the ground. He just stood there with this stupid look of disbelief and fear on his face. It’s the fear in their eyes I like the best. This one was going to be sweet, as I took my time.  A double handle swing took his left leg off at the knee, dropping him down on his right. I slowly raised the ax over my head coming down hard where his neck met his shoulder, burying the ax head deep in his upper torso. I had to work and pry it out of the bone to allow his body to drop forward.  Stepping back the blood was everywhere, gurgling and spurting out of the quivering bodies. The sound of the running blood slowly decreasing as the bodies pumped the last life force from them and a deep red silence took over the clearing. Hey, I’m just saying, you know. “Dude, that was harsh, man,” said zombie one. “that really hurt”. “I think I’m going to puke” replied zombie two. Well it’s just the way I see it, I could be wrong. But if you want a suggestion from me, you guys should watch your backs. “Yea I know what you are saying” wined zombie one. “I do need this job and you are right, thanks”. “I think I’m going to puke” replied zombie two. I left them both in the clearing of break room looking over the balanced score card and reviewing their goals. “That is not what I wanted you to do”, said Mother.  Sorry, I said, you know that happily I will sell my body for you, but I won’t be your assassin. “But you would be so good at it” suggestively responded Mother. I know, but that is just for me, you can’t have it, replied I. “Fine” snapped Mother. “But you’re not my favorite anymore”. I knew that was coming. “And have you meet Fred from Human Resources” Mother coyly said. Hi Fred, is that a double bit Hudson Bay ax? I always thought they were more flashy then actually useful. “I’m pretty good with it”, responded Fred. “We need to meet”. Yes, I figured that Fred, send me an appointment.

Breaking the Rules of Engagement

There is not a single time, that when I sit down to type something here, that I don’t think about deleting this whole damn blog. I hadn’t planned on this being so much about me. Yet, it certainly seems to be turning out that way. This definitely seems to be going in the wrong direction. Should I actually be sending these things out to the cloud. But then again, there is not a lot of you out there that even reads these self indulgent soliloquies and they are fairly obvious. I’m not relating any secrets.

Ok, so we might as well recap. If you were paying attention, we have established a few constants.

I am a corporate whore. Prostituting myself for whatever monies and benies I can still get from my corporate mother.

I am not too happy with the way society is going.

I am an idiot

I have reality issues

I’m somewhat dark

I don’t like people that won’t use their turn signals while driving.

I rant and rave fairly often.

I like Dr Seuss.

I’m a self proclaimed artist.

I’m an ex-son,ex-husband, and a forgotten father

I don’t like zombies.

I am somewhat whinny……did I establish that yet? Well, yea….. whinny.

Nothing new there, no great personal revelation or insights. So that’s about that. You get it now, there I stand. So what has this done for me?

Nothing.

Which brings me to you. Obviously the next question that comes to mind is why would anybody be reading this shit? Half the time I can’t take even typing it. Do you people have that much time on your hands, or are you just waiting for more recipes on cooking tripe?

non-existance 2

I am but the space of a hyphen. I wish I could have dreams, or the hope of an exclamation mark.

non-

I’ve experienced adventures thru dark forested woods, rain soaked streets, tall cities, small towns, and big seascapes. Spent lifetimes amongst friends, groups, and crowds. Surround by thousands and by one. I’ve stood on stage and addressed hundreds, been given awards and accolades. And in quite repose held tight and whispered into the ear of love. At different times, spent every essence of my being attempting to be the quintessential good son, husband, father. Yet it is here that I always return, seated in a chair, in a blank quiet room, alone. And all that I have done, all that I have been, all that I have struggled to achieve, is gone. There is no tears shed for me, no one to whisper my name to the future, no prays for my everlasting eternality. I am already forgotten and shall never find the solitude of completeness. The photos will be deleted, the art will be trashed, and what I was shall fade into what I all ready am now, nothing.

So be it.

MENUDO (Tripe Soup)

• 2 pounds honeycomb tripe
• l 1/2 pound veal knuckle

• 3 medium onions, chopped (1 1/2 cups)
• 2 cloves garlic, minced

Cut tripe into 1 inch pieces. Place in a Dutch oven with veal knuckle, water, onions, garlic, salt, coriander, oregano , the 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper and black pepper. Chop all meat and return to soup. Add undrained hominy. Cover and simmer 20 minutes longer. Serve with piquin chilies or crushed red pepper to taste. Garnish with lime wedges.

Note: When eaten with plenty of extra hot pepper, it is reputed to cure hangovers.
